Obituary for William James "Bill" MacKellar

William James "Bill"  MacKellar
A resident of Roscommon, MI, he died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at his daughter’s home in St. Francisville, LA. He was a native of Montreal Quebec Canada and long time resident of Grosse Ile, MI. Bill retired from National Steel as Director of Iron and Steelmaking with over 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sherril MacKellar; a daughter, Sandra MacKellar Holub and husband, Richard, St. Francisville; 2 sons, Ian Machan MacKellar and wife, Julie, Mattawan Michigan and Keith MacKellar and wife, Pam, Indianapolis, Indiana. A brother, Ian Roberts MacKellar and wife, Meredith, Whitby Ontario Canada. As well as special Canadian nieces and nephews: Cathy, Bob, Erin, Amanda, Alison and Peter. 10 grandchildren, Ashleigh Holub, Jordan MacKellar, Lindsey Holub, Jace MacKellar, Ryan MacKellar, Aaron Holub, Megan MacKellar, Devan MacKellar, Camryn Holub and Jenna MacKellar. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie MacKellar. Bill was a graduate of McGill University in Montreal Canada with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He played ice hockey and coached his sons. Family was everything to Bill, his grandchildren were his world. Bill enjoyed travelling the world. His bucket list was empty! A special thank you to Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge and the exceptional care provided by Drs. Miletello and Russell.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
