"As the deer panteth for the water brook, so my soul longs for thee, oh, God." Psalms 48:1 George Wells, 81, native of Glaskcock County, Georgia, and a resident of Baker, La. for 22 years went to meet his Lord on Friday, August 22, 2014. He was a resident of Louisiana for forty five years. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Janet Kitchens Wells, a daughter and spouse Kathy Wells Antoon and Bonnie Denova, one son and spouse Mark W. Wells and Wolf Einhorn, a younger daughter Kimberley Wells Johnston, He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joseph Wells Antoon, Sara Johnston Rickert, Ryan Johnston and Aaron Johnston. Sisters, Mary Usry Kitchens and Rendia Wells Kent, and brothers, John Willie Wells and Lewis Wells. George was a deacon from the age of seventeen until health issues forced his resignation at the age of seventy eight. He was a 32 degree mason and maintained his credentials with the A.J. Miller Lodge in Thomson Georgia. He retired from the papermaking industry and is in the 'Who's Who in the Papermaking Industry." He was a master woodworker and made furniture for his home and many others. The family would like to thank Alex C. McKowen III and Johnny LeTard for inviting him to hunt and fish on their properties. Goerge was a US Army Veteran. He had a very close Army friend, Bob Dolinger, as he served at Camp Gordon Georgia during the Korean Conflict. Pallbearers will be Joseph Antoon, Aaron Johnston, Ryan Johnston, Timmy Usry, Darrell Usry, Alex C. McKowen III, Rocky Pierce and Tumani Rucker. Honorary pallbearers are Marion Denova, Hampton Williams, Kaycee Annison, Welton Pierce, Wolf Einhorn, Brian Hathorne, M.D., Eugene Thompson, M.D., Stephen Castine, M.D., John, Roy and Billy Kitchens, James Vicellio and the Master's Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Zachary. Music will be provide by Mr. Louis Sparkman, Ms. Jan Linton and Ms. Kaycee Annison. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, August 25, 2014, with Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 1 pm with services at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Zachary. Dr. Les Colvin and Dr. Reggie Bridges will officiate. Burial will be at Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary officiated by Dr. Brythel Brantly. The family would like to express special love and thanks to Brian Hathorne, M.D. He has been our shining knight and blessing from God since he opened his practice. We depended on him many times when George was near death. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Castine were also a great help. Floral gifts will be gladly accepted, as well as donations to the American Heart Association.
