Lucille Fluker McQueen Priddy (“Lucy”) passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the age of 83.
Born December 5, 1932 in Centreville, MS, she was a resident of Jackson, LA until October 1993 when she moved to Baton Rouge.
A graduate of McKowen High School in Jackson, LA and Baton Rouge Business College, she worked at East Louisiana State Hospital for two years and retired from Albemarle Corp. (formerly the Ethyl Corp.) after 42+ years of service.
She was an active member of the community and over the years served in various capacities for organizations such as Rotary International, Salvation Army, Public Affairs Research Council, United Way, Volunteers in Public Schools, Council for a Better Louisiana, and Community Fund for the Arts.
Her personal mission was to help people, whatever the need and she served individuals as well as organizations, helping many young people further education and find employment. She was a champion of inclusion and worked hard to find common ground and ways to bring people together. As a member of University Baptist Church she demonstrated her faith by contributing talents and resources to programs and projects.
Family was a great joy and she gathered them around for beach trips, Disneyland excursions, Caribbean cruises, and family dinners. She loved to fish, read, play dominoes, travel and laugh with family and her many friends.
