Obituary for Harvey Preston Carpenter

A resident of Clinton and a native of Deerford, LA he died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at his home. He was 80 years old and was retired from Cos Mar Chemical. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Visiting will be at Redwood Baptist Church, Hwy 412, Slaughter on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm and continues on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 from 9am until service at 11am conducted by Bro. Robert Reames, Bro. Jack Mills and Bro. Ron Aguillard. Burial will be in Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Pride.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Murel (Jean) Carpenter.

Daughter, Patti Jo Reames and husband, Robert.

4 grandchildren, Sue Carpenter, Mandi Mills and husband, Jack; Ashley Van Derbeck and husband, Chris and Ethan Reames and wife, Cammie.

7 great grandchildren, Jaden Jackson, Tristen Jackson, Makayla Mills, Jenna Mills, Julia Mills, Hope Mills, and Evelynn Van Derbeck.

He is preceded in death by his son, Rusty Carpenter; parents, Herman and Beatrice Carpenter and a sister, Alverda Young.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Reames, Jack Mills, Chris Van Derbeck, Tony Sansone, Josh Phares, and Warren Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Phares, Greg Croft, Dean Croft and Doug LeCoq.

He was a Deacon and Music Director at Redwood Baptist Church.

Special thanks to Dr. Hanson, Judy and the nurses on the 6th floor for your care and support. Also a special thanks to volunteer “Mr. Jack.”
