Obituary for Emma Ericksen Welch
A resident of Oakwood Village in Zachary for the last 6½ years, she died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. She was 91 years old and a native of Westport, Oregon. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, from 1 pm until 2 pm. A graveside service will be held at Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary, conducted by Bro. Bruce Hatcher. She is survived by her daughters, Kaaren Gammel and husband, Jim, Zachary and Debra Pitts and husband, Roger, Daphne, Alabama. And a son, Jim Welch and wife, Darlene, Prentiss, Mississippi, 2 sisters, Rugna (Rags) Little and Marjorie Wallberg, both of Longview Washington, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ray Welch, her parents, Soren and Augusta Ericksen and 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakwood Village for taking such good care of our mother. Also special thanks to Clarity Hospice for their daily care and Gladys Banks who sat with her almost every night for the past two weeks.
