Obituary for Gerald Lea Connell

Gerald Lea Connell, 64, a resident of St. Francisville, LA, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. He was a current employee of the West Feliciana School Board, where he has worked for eight years driving a school bus for special needs children. He was retired from the Louisiana State Penitentiary where he worked for over 20 years as a Corrections Lieutenant. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 9am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Pastor Mike Clark. Burial will be in Second Baptist Cemetery in Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 39 and a half years, Sandra Chapman Connell; one daughter, Carla Connell Allen and her husband Jason of St. Francisville; his mother, Betty Russell Connell of St. Francisville; one brother, Richard Connell, also of St. Francisville; and four grandchildren: Rileigh Claire Allen, Emily Lauren Spillman, Olivia DeAnne Allen, and Jason Waylon Allen Jr. "Jace." He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Helen DeAnne Connell Spillman; his loving father Wade Richardson Connell; father-in-law Bobby Chapman, and mother-in-law Helen Soileau Chapman. Pallbearers will be Jason Allen, Mike Gunnells, Kelly Wayne Russell, Brandon Chapman, Don McKey, Johnny King, Cody Escher, and Jimmy Norsworthy. Honorary pallbearers are Ric Chapman, Conrad Chapman, Greg Chapman, Sonny McKey, Tyler Depew, and Tristan Depew. He enjoyed hunting and spent many hours a day picking up pecans to sell. He loved LSU sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
