A resident of Clinton, he died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was 87 years old and was retired from Exxon Refinery with 37 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II.
Visiting will be at Plank Road Baptist Church, Slaughter on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 from 3pm until 6pm and continues on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 from 9am until religious service at 10am conducted by Rev. Bernie Schmidt. Burial will be in Buetoville Cemetery, Ethel. Graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Martin Raub and husband, Thomas, Baton Rouge; step daughter, Cheryl Marie Martin and husband, Chester Ross, Columbia, TN. A son, Kenny Wayne Martin, Sr. and wife, Wanda, Clinton, and step sons, Mike Mullens and wife Jean and Phil Mullens all of Ethel. 3 brothers, Reece H. Martin and wife, Ilene, Baton Rouge; Homer Martin and wife, Marie, Prairieville; and Roy Martin and wife, Barbara, Homer. 14 grandchildren, Kenny Wayne Martin, Jr.; DeAnne Westfall Sensat; Robbie Martin (Christina); Jene’ Martin; Aimee Ford (Shannon); Jeremy Dyess (Michelle); Brian K. Raub; Rhonda Adams (Tony); James Raub; Misty Parliament (Eric); Sacha Landreneau; Kathie Geerken (Bernard); Emily Kirby (Brannon); and Ben Mullens (Adrienne). 27 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Gurthel Mullens Martin and wife, of 18 years, Sophie Aull Martin; son, R. Keith Martin, grandson, David T. Westfall, parents, David V. and Lizzie Martin and 2 sisters, Geraldine Sumrall and Shirley Gobiel. He was a founding member and Deacon at Plank Road Baptist Church in Slaughter.
