Charles “Buddy” Hughes, 75, a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Thursday, October 9, 2014. He was a retired livestock auctioneer and cattleman. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc in Zachary on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 10am until funeral services at 12noon, conducted by Rev. Bob Wojohn. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 59 years, Judy Campagna Hughes; two daughters, Cathy Hughes Karras of St. Francisville; Cyndi Hughes Blanchard of Zachary; two sons, Chuck Hughes of Zachary; Todd Hughes and his wife Susan Hughes of Zachary; one sister, Tillie Ann Hughes Lee and her husband Robert “Bobby” Lee of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Hugh Engels and his wife Jaime Engels, Evan Engels, Lauren Hughes, Mia Hughes; two great-grandchildren Gracie Engels, and Ellie Engels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Hughes and Tillie Linzay Hughes; and granddaughter, Colby Taylor Blanchard. Pallbearers will Ricky Lee, Marshall Lee, John Golashesky, Christopher Adams, Michael Adams, Allan Johnson, Hugh Engels, and Evan Engels. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He played high school basketball for Zachary High School. He was a humble and honest man who loved his family and friends.
