Obituary for William R Aslin

William R  Aslin
William R. Aslin, 87, a resident of Ethel, LA, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Hope, Arkansas and a former employee of Ideal Cement Company. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 1pm until funeral services at 3pm, conducted by Rev. Ed Jelks and Rev. Alvin Hall. Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery in Slaughter. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Aslin; daughter Donna Brasseaux and her husband Joe Brasseaux of Ethel; son Joe Aslin and his wife Connie Aslin of Zachary; grandchildren Dustin Aslin; Travis Aslin and his fiancé Jessica Morris; Jolee Brasseaux Sagely; Jonee Brasseaux Varisco and her husband Jacob Varisco; and Joseph Brasseaux; great-grandchildren Jette Sagely, Janee Varisco, Jaxson Varisco, and Jace William Ray Varisco (due in November and will be named after Mr. Aslin). He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Jadan Sagely on December 4, 2007. Mr. Aslin (Paw as all the babies call him) will be laid to rest next to Jadan. Pallbearers will be Dustin Aslin, Travis Aslin, Joseph Brasseaux, Jacob Varisco, Mike Pate, and Michael Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Strain, Randy Adams, and Mike Milton. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the US Army. He was a deacon of the Ethel Baptist Church and a longtime member. He liked to travel.
