Condolence: Mr. Bill was a true southern gentleman and was always offering his assistance to those that were in need. He was an inspiration to many including me as we interacted many hours concerning ZUMC business issues. During that time we developed a bond that I will always carry in my memory. Mr. Bill will surely be missed by many...enjoy your place in heaven my friend!

Condolence: I knew Dr. Waters for the past 55 years. He was a teacher, mentor and supervisor. But, most of all to me, he was a great extension agent. I learned much, by example, from him that helped me to in my 44 year extension agent career. I will miss him, but will try to follow in his example.

Condolence From: CCWO5 Mervin LeBlanc (Ret)
Condolence: To the Waters family my sincere condolences. Geneva, I’m sure you will remember me after I tell my story. I met LTC Bill Waters at Camp Beauregard during an annual training period when I was the Command Sergeant Major of the 769th Engineer Battalion. He was Commander of the 2223rd Engineer Battalion attending its annual training period at the same time period. He would come into our headquarters from time to time always stopping to have a few words with me when he was leaving. The last day he told me that he would see if he could have me transferred to his headquarters, and I told him I was perfectly satisfied where I was. He gave me that little grin he had and a look like he knew something I didn’t know. Well by the next year when annual training period came around he was Commander of the 769th Engr Bn and I was his CSM, I thought a match made in heaven. I respected him, learned from him and the experience made me a better soldier. It was a mutual respect, and we made a good team, not only in uniform but as Professor Waters and “Coon” LeBlanc. When he was mad you knew it, when he was proud it showed, when he was happy everyone shared it. I not only respected him, but loved him as well - you couldn’t help it. Now I am sad, God bless you Bill Waters for sharing my life.

Condolence: So many fond memories of the Waters household. As an adult looking back-Mr. Waters basically kept a horse for me to ride. Sure I helped Donna ride but I rode Baby everyday for ages. A place where I learned how to play cribbage and had many sleep overs. My 2nd home. (or was it third?)

Condolence: PaBill has been a father to me for over 36 years, grandfather to my 3 children, Christie, John and David, great grandfather to my 8 grandchildren, Conor, Jordan, Peyton, Cade, Kyndal, Cami, Raegan and Riley. He has influenced each of us in so many beautiful ways. He was such a great influence on all my family. We have shared wonderful visits full of love, laughter and precious memories. His greatest gift to me was his love and care of my mother, Geneva Waters, the love of his life. A true southern gentleman, full if wise advice and love, he will be greatly missed.
