Obituary for Martin Ray Mayeux

Martin Ray Mayeux, 71 , a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Friday, November 17, 2017. He retired after 42 years with Tembec. There will be a visitation at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm, with a 7pm Rosary. Visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 9am until Mass at 10am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, conducted by Rev. M. Jeffery Bayhi. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol McGrew Mayeux; two daughters, Crystal Tingle and her husband Kevin of Niceville, FL; Brandie Guerin and her husband Christopher of Slaughter; two sons, Ragen Mayeux and his wife Jill of Denham Springs; Bradley Harless and his wife Cathy of Denham Springs; two brothers, Michael Mayeux of Zachary; David Mayeux and his wife Judy of Baton Rouge; thirteen grandchildren: Brice, Chase, Carson, McKenzie, Riley, Sidney, Taylor, Devin, Nicole, Austin, Landon, Dillon, Kenley; and one great-grandchild on the way, Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vera Mayeux; brother Joseph Mayeux II; son, Bryan Harless; and sister-in-law Karen Mayeux. Pallbearers will be Bradley Harless, Chris Guerin, Kevin Tingle, Coy Hobgood, Ragen Mayeux, Michael Mayeux, David Mayeux, and Charlie Alleman. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, grilling, and working with his hands. He liked to restore classic cars and enjoyed telling stories. He was always up for a good joke or laugh and never met a stranger. He had a passion for collecting barbecue pits and cooking.
