Obituary for David Donald "Mr. B" Brumfield

David Donald Brumfield, “Mr. B”, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Liberty, MS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the chapel at First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge in downtown Baton Rouge from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 12:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Pattye Hewitt. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Burial with military honors will be at Louisiana National Cemetery. Never one to sit idle, he retired from the Baton Rouge Water Works after 34 years and then worked with Kean Miller Law Firm for another 20 years. He was a true people person and his genuine, kind nature attracted friends from all walks of life. He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed his daily visits with his Coffee Call friends. His grandchildren were his pride and he loved to share all of their adventures with everyone. He also loved all animals and held dearly the memories of each and every pet he had over the years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Brumfield; three daughters, Mary Marchand and husband Chris of Baton Rouge; Alison Paz and husband Kilbert of Baton Rouge; Jennifer Doerfler and husband Mike of Zachary; two grandchildren: Joseph Doerfler and Sophia Paz; and brother-in-law Charles Seeger and his wife Diann; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliot and Earline Brumfield, two sisters, and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Mike Doerfler, Joseph Doerfler, Chris Marchand, Bruce Messick, Kilbert Paz and Alexander Waters. The family would like to thank Audubon Hospice especially Toni, Kim, Ashley and Denise for providing such compassionate care. Thank you also to Dr. Kenneth Civello and Dr. Andrew Rees for the genuine and gracious care extended to Mr. B. throughout his illness.
