Obituary for Lionel Douglas Starns

Lionel Douglas Starns, 85, “L.D.”, a resident of Central, Louisiana, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017. He was retired, after working for the State of Louisiana in Law Enforcement for over 20 years. Visitation will be at the Zoar Baptist Church in Central on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 9am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Dr. Kevin Hand. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dorothy Swain Starns; three daughters, Bonnie Recatto and husband Charlie of Hammond; Barbara Deris and husband Greg of Destrehan; Rhonda Bourg and husband Brett of Bourg, LA; three sons, Alfred Starns and wife Wanda of Summit, MS; Leslie Starns and wife Colleen of Chapel Hill, NC; John Starns of Central; one sister, Joan Sirchia of Independence, LA; one brother, Ellis Starns and wife Cindy of Kemp, TX; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchilden. He is also survived by his former wife Mamie Neal Starkey of Albany, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Euel and Johnnie Starns; one brother-in-law Johnny Sirchia; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Starns. Pallbearers will be Joey Sirchia, Jason Recatto, Barrett Deris, Neal Swain, Roger Amedee, and Tony Conrad.
