Obituary for Donald Evans "Smitty" Smith

Donald Evans Smith, “Smitty”, 82, a native of Baywood, LA, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. He had many careers: as a florist, a salesman for Stevens Candy Company, Local 623 Ironworkers, Smitty’s Trucking, and Trade Construction. Visitation will be on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Bluff Creek Baptist Church from 5pm until 8pm and then on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 9am until funeral services at 10am, conducted by Rev. Cole Permenter. Burial will be at Naul Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irma Kimble Smith; one daughter, Julie Smith Stevens and her husband Joey Stevens of Clinton, LA; two sons: Luke H. Pamplin Sr. and his wife Kim P. Pamplin of Clinton; Kenneth W. Smith and wife Veronica S. Smith of Clinton; seven grandchildren: Ashley E. Oliver, Luke H. Pamplin Jr., Jackson E. Stevens, D’Lanie R. Stevens, Rusty Triche, Randy Triche, and Renee Triche; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward D. Smith, mother Ivy Morgan Smith, brother Stanley Laverne Smith, son Rickey Evans Smith. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. He graduated from Pride High School, Class of 1953. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
