Obituary for Clyde Ray Turner

Our beloved Paw Clyde went home to be with Jesus on June 23, 2017.  He was an extraordinary man with a kind and generous spirit.  He and his wife shared a love for music.  His family will miss his wonderful sense of humor.  Clyde was born October 11, 1930.  He is survived by “Billie” (Manning) Turner, his wife of 28 years; three step-daughters: Diane and husband Keith Daniel of Zachary, LA, Rhonda Hughes of Ethel, LA, and Pam and husband Kenny Simmons of Zachary, LA; nine step-grandchildren and their spouses: Brandon Daniel, Jerad and Reagan Daniel, Jerica Daniel, and Brynn Daniel; Kim Sawyer; Jonathan and Libby Sawyer; Abigail and Jake Miley, Amanda Turnley, Austin Simmons and Zack Simmons; and four step-great-grandchildren, Anna Clair and Kaylee Ruth Sawyer; T. J. Sawyer; and Benton Daniel; a loving brother, Lester Wayne Turner and wife Lyla; sister-in-law Margie Turner, brother-in-law Richard Buhler; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius (Jack) Clyde Turner and Mabel Elizabeth (Schmidt) Turner; a sister, Carol Mae (Turner) Buhler; a brother Conrad Lane Turner; and step-grandson Justin Sawyer.
 
Clyde entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 15, 1951 at Camp Roberts in Fort Ord, California and served as a Corporal (Com-Z), overseas in Bremen, Germany and Orleans, France until his honorable discharge on July 18, 1953.  He was a graduate of Baton Rouge Business College. On March 1, 1986 he retired from Ethyl-Albermarle with over 36 years of employment. He often spoke of fellow employees and remembered them fondly.
 
On May 30, 1942, Clyde made a profession of Christian faith in Jesus Christ at Redwood Baptist Church, Slaughter, LA.  He faithfully volunteered over 18 years of service for the church after his retirement from Ethyl-Albermarle. He attended services regularly until declining health in his latter years, and supported the church membership until his death.
 
Visitation will be at Redwood Baptist Church, 5182 Hwy 412 E, Slaughter, LA 70777 on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 10am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial will be at Redwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his step-grandsons: Brandon Daniel, Jerad Daniel, Jonathan Sawyer, Austin Simmons, Jake Miley, and his long-time friend John (Bo) Holliday; Honorary pallbearers are Keith Daniel, Kenny Simmons and Zack Simmons.
