William Larry Perkins, “Billy”
Billy Perkins, a lifelong resident of Clinton, LA, passed away early June 3, 2017. He was 68. He will be missed by friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in his early years, was passionate about racing motor bikes. Sgt. Perkins was a decorated Vietnam veteran. He was in Vietnam from August 1969 to August 1970, serving with the 1st Infantry Division, then Troop A, 4th Cavalry, and finished his tour with the 196 Infantry Brigade of the Americal Division. Billy retired from BellSouth after 30 years of employment. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Varnado Perkins; son William Bradley Perkins; stepdaughter Erin Garner Potts and husband Russton Potts; brother Thomas Perkins and his wife Barbara; three grandchildren: Blake Bridges, Daren Garner, and Tristen Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janie and Mahoney Perkins; and step-son Douglas Garner. Visitation will be at the Feliciana Baptist Church in Clinton, LA on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 11am until funeral services at 1pm. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends wishing to make memorial donations may make them to the American Diabetes Association.
