Barrett Duane Black went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was 20 years old and was employed at PJ’s Coffee in Hammond. He was a resident of Pride and led music for Galilee Baptist Youth Group. Barrett was a loving son, brother and grandson. He was a talented, intelligent young man who was committed to the Lord in spite of the struggles of life. Visiting will be at Galilee Baptist Church, Zachary on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 9am until religious service at 1pm conducted by Rev. Ron Lowery. Burial will be in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery, Zachary. Barrett is survived by his parents, Duane and Toni Black, siblings, Ben, Brianna, and Brady Black. Grandparents, Charles “Dickie” and Linda Black and Tommy and Ginger Travis. Uncles and Aunts, Mignonne Black Rogers and husband, Michael; Chad Black; and Baili Travis and fiancé, Tyler Harvey. Cousins, Kyle, Blake, Hope, and Charity Rogers, Brittany Tompkins and husband, Trent; Wensi Xu and Eli Harvey. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Davy Travis and his great grandparents. Honorary pallbearers will be the Brothers of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and the Youth Group at Galilee Baptist Church. Barrett was a student at Southeastern Louisiana University and a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
